The Attico
The Attico: Milanese Glamour, Reinvented for Today
Few brands have entered the fashion conversation with the immediacy and self-assurance of The Attico. Born in Milan from the friendship and shared vision of two of the most influential figures in contemporary Italian style, the house has become a global reference for hedonist glamour, a sensual, knowing reinterpretation of dolce vita energy filtered through the silhouettes of the '90s and the golden age of Hollywood. Each Attico sunglass is conceived in exactly that spirit: a statement piece, never a quiet one.
Mondello1962 has selected The Attico for clients who want their eyewear to do what it has always done at its best, frame the face, reveal the personality, and turn an ordinary moment into something worth photographing.
The Story of The Attico: Two Milanese Visions, One Idea of Glamour
The Attico was founded in 2016 in Milan by Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini, two Italian designers whose own personal style had already made them internationally recognised faces of the street-style scene. Gilda, born in Naples, trained at Istituto Marangoni; Giorgia, born in the Marche region, graduated from IED. Their friendship, and the realisation that their complementary personalities could become a creative project, turned into a brand that, in its very first season, was already stocked by Net-a-Porter, Joyce Hong Kong and Opening Ceremony, with a sell-through rate of around 80%.
The brand's name comes from the Italian word for penthouse, the upper floor, the private retreat, the place where you let your guard down and dress for yourself. It is from that idea, join us upstairs, that the entire universe of The Attico has unfolded: a hedonist mindset built around glamour, sparkle and women talking to women through fashion. In 2019, the founders were honoured with the Altagamma Foundation's Young Business Award, a recognition reserved for the most promising emerging companies of the Italian creative industry.
The Attico Eyewear: a Collaboration with Linda Farrow
The Attico's eyewear universe was born in SS20 from the partnership with Linda Farrow, the historic British house renowned worldwide for its meticulous artisanal manufacturing and its collaborations with the most influential fashion designers of our time. Together, the two brands have built a constantly evolving collection of sunglasses and, more recently (from AW25), optical frames that translate The Attico's stylistic DNA into eyewear of true couture-level finish.
Each piece is sculpted from premium Italian acetate, Made in Italy, hand-polished to that unmistakable luxurious high shine, and fitted with solid lenses offering 100% UV protection. The result is a frame that has the substance and finish of fine fashion accessory production, while carrying the unmistakable attitude of the Milanese house.
The Iconic Models: Marfa, Irene, Milano, Thea and More
The Attico eyewear collection is built around a constellation of signature silhouettes, each capturing a different facet of the brand's personality:
- Marfa: The undisputed icon of the collection. A rectangular '90s-inspired silhouette that has become a contemporary cult object, available in classic black, tortoiseshell and a rotating palette of seasonal colourways.
- Mini Marfa: The petite, playfully reduced version of the Marfa. A small frame with a strong attitude, perfect for those who want a more intimate take on the signature shape.
- Milano: Oversized sunglasses sculpted from acetate and finished with a luxurious high shine. The most generous and statement-driven silhouette of the family.
- Irene: Angular hexagonal sunglasses sculpted from recycled black acetate, polished to soften the edges. A modern, architectural piece.
- Thea: A mini rectangular frame in glossy tortoiseshell acetate, the kind of silhouette that elevates an everyday outfit into a portrait.
- Karl, Rania, Edie, Erin, Vanessa: Additional silhouettes that complete the brand's eyewear universe with cat-eyes, aviators, ovals and confident statement shapes.
All models are essentially unisex, designed as accessories that transcend gender categories, although their bold proportions and punchy palette make them particularly seductive on those who love a strong feminine attitude.
